Christmas Day 2012

Finally, Christmas Day arrives!  This was an exciting Christmas for Ben as he was more aware this year of what was happening.  He visited Santa for the first time, and asked for particular things.  As with the past few years, everyone met up at our place on the big day.

The day started with Santa gifts and Ben opening his stocking.

Loni also brought the whole crew.  This was the first time that Alisha & Shayla had been to our Pleasant Hill home.

Christmas 2012 Approaches

We are very excited for Christmas 2012!!  Ben is approaching three years of age so he is in full Christmas mode!  Every time we arrive back home he asks to see his miniature train outside lit up by Christmas lights.  He then makes his way to our front porch where our new LED angel sits.  If the Christmas tree (the first REAL-live Christmas tree ever owned by Tiff or I in our lives) happens to be unlit he immediately requests that we light it up.

One favorite memory of mine leading up to Christmas this year was Ben's first visit to see Santa at Jordan Creek Mall.  We practiced before-hand and he did very well!  It took some time to convince Ben that this was indeed Santa as he had taken off his large red coat.  Ben sat right on Santa's chair with his good buddy Katryna (Jeremy & Kristen Poland's little girl).  He sat right beside him and told him that he wanted "cars" for Christmas.  Santa of course proceeded to ask him what type of cars and listed off a few options (he has some considerable experience in crafting toy cars distributed through North Pole front businesses such as Matchbox and Hot Wheels).

We also made a quick stop at the Valley West Mall to ride the Christmas train!  Ben sat next to a wired, crazy-Einstein-haird child that had consumed much too much caffeine and/or candy.  But a fun time was had by all during his ten loops around the small North Pole village constructed in the middle of the mall.

Christmas 2012 Milestones:
  • First real-live Christmas tree
  • First visit to Santa
  • First visit to Jolly Holiday Lights in Des Moines

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to our new and updated blog! We have been EXTREMELY lazy and lacking on our blogging this year and we apologize. Our goal this upcoming year will be to beef up our blogging skills and keep all of our family and friends informed of what's going on in the Mueller household. Here are some things that have happened this year that MAY have aided in our dissappearance from writing to all you folks.

1) Andrew took a journey to Colorado this summer with some buddies and completed Ride the Rockies on the bike! It was a major accomplishment for him and he did a great job! I will let him blog about it more detailed if he feels the need. He is planning on going back to Colorado this next summer to do the Bicycle Tour of Colorado.

2) I have been teaching, which most of you know, can take up quite some time even after the school day is done. I began my sixth year of teaching first grade this fall and have a great group of kids!

3) Ben got to go see THOMAS THE TRAIN! We went to "Day out with Thomas" this September and they had lots of fun things for kids to do. He played at lots of train tables, and even go to ride Thomas the train! We took that journey with G'ma and G'pa Bendixen and Aunt Kari too.

4) This summer we took kind of our first big family vacay to Wisconsin to visit the Hackbarths (Andrew's sister's family). Ben got to play with his cousins and we took a trip to one of the nearby waterparks.

5) Potty training. Need I say anymore? Boys and potty training are a ball of fun and love to eat up lots and LOTS of time. I will say on a positive note that it is coming along and we hope to be finished up with it VERY soon. :-) (Any tips, please let us know too.)

There was much, much more of course that happened this year but these were some of the major ones. Again, we PROMISE (I will try at least!) we will jump back on the blogging train and you will be hearing more from us soon!
