Mmm...mmmm good.

It's been a few days. :-) Update on Ben and his ear infection-- he's pretty much back to normal. We can tell because he is very active and crawling, cruising everywhere. And the fussiness has gone....some. Separation anxiety has somewhat started to set in, especially when I am around him. He needs to know I am in the room at all times, dad works too some of the time. I do like the sense of someone needing me, especially as being a mommy and protective. :-) I just hope it doesn't grow into anything bigger and make it harder to leave him alone as he gets older.

We have now embarked on a journey to more solid foods! I actually find it quite fun to cook up some things and then sit and watch what he does with his 'big people' food. :-) This week I tried cooked carrots, which was not a big hit. Is it a sign that he doesn't want it when he quickly clears off his whole tray, wiping it in his lap or on the floor? I also tried mashed potatoes, mixed with some of his formula. OH MY. Let's just say he could have kept eating them all night. I plopped a mashed potato mound in front and I could tell his thoughts were: "What's this mommy?" As smart as he can be to check this scene out, he dug his hands in and smeared it around to, you know, just experiment with it a little. He did end up with a lovely white full face beard by the end of the meal. And tonight, I gave him little bits of hotdog and round 2 of carrots, ugh no good still. But hotdogs were kind of okay.

I am starting to realize that he is becoming older and more aware, especially of foods we eat. I am big snacker type, which is always the best, right? Aunt Kari keeps reminding me that Ben will soon see just how much chips and dip I eat in a week (oops.) Well, I guess the goal for both Andy and I this year is to be a little more healthy so we can make sure he eats healthy foods with us. And I do actually enjoy cooking, I am just not always motivated. But the mommy that I am now with a good eater, I vow to TRY to make it a point to cook more and experiment more in the kitchen with healthy recipes. Family---you might have to remind me of this every once in a while if I fall off track.

Andy is headed to a birthday party for a good friend of his tomorrow all day playing, can it be? Computer games. Not what I count as a good time spent on a Saturday but whatever floats his boat. Ben and I will be chillin' at home, pajamas on for a good chunk of the day. :-)

That's all I got for now. Everyone have a restful weekend!

January 2011

Hello All!
Sorry we haven't posted in a few weeks, it has been a busy new year. :-) Benjamin has been sick on and off lately with colds and such. It has been strange, him sick for a few days and then he seems fine for awhile. However, this past week we knew something was different. We thought he could be teething because several people, especially those who have had kids, told us that sometimes babies can get ill during this time. His temps were pretty low and he just seemed to be irritable. Well, this Thursday I decided I couldn't take this back and forth thing anymore and we just needed to take a trip to the doctor. So we went and found out the poor guy has an ear infection. :-( All of his symptoms can relate to it and the doc also said, again, that it could be a part of possible teething. So, Ben is now on antibiotics, he gets the yummy bubblegum flavor meds I know I liked when I was a kid. :-) He is seemingly much better and getting back to his happy social self.
Also, this week he is 10 months old, can you believe it!?! I was just thinking back to this time a year ago with the snowy and icy roads. Myself, HUGE and waddling around like a penguin on the ice trying not to fall down. It yet again makes me think time goes by quick and is very precious.
Since the new year, Ben also had a checkup before his ear infection. He weighed in at almost 20 lbs. and was 28 1/2 inches long. This meant that Ben needed to change car seats because he's almost too big for his 'baby' one. So, we headed to Babies R' Us and found one for him and he LOVES it! He can now look out the car window since it is slightly higher than the infant carseat. We now find him jabbering loudly in the backseat, probably about all the really cool things he sees as we drive by them, hehe. Soon, he will be 1 and able to face forward too, which means I can jabber along in his conversation.
You know I couldn't leave you hangin' without some glimpse of Ben lately, so here are some recent photos from this month:
Big smiles in the bath!
Hello everyone!
Hey, what's that up there? :-)
