We have now embarked on a journey to more solid foods! I actually find it quite fun to cook up some things and then sit and watch what he does with his 'big people' food. :-) This week I tried cooked carrots, which was not a big hit. Is it a sign that he doesn't want it when he quickly clears off his whole tray, wiping it in his lap or on the floor? I also tried mashed potatoes, mixed with some of his formula. OH MY. Let's just say he could have kept eating them all night. I plopped a mashed potato mound in front and I could tell his thoughts were: "What's this mommy?" As smart as he can be to check this scene out, he dug his hands in and smeared it around to, you know, just experiment with it a little. He did end up with a lovely white full face beard by the end of the meal. And tonight, I gave him little bits of hotdog and round 2 of carrots, ugh no good still. But hotdogs were kind of okay.
I am starting to realize that he is becoming older and more aware, especially of foods we eat. I am big snacker type, which is always the best, right? Aunt Kari keeps reminding me that Ben will soon see just how much chips and dip I eat in a week (oops.) Well, I guess the goal for both Andy and I this year is to be a little more healthy so we can make sure he eats healthy foods with us. And I do actually enjoy cooking, I am just not always motivated. But the mommy that I am now with a good eater, I vow to TRY to make it a point to cook more and experiment more in the kitchen with healthy recipes. Family---you might have to remind me of this every once in a while if I fall off track.
Andy is headed to a birthday party for a good friend of his tomorrow all day playing, can it be? Computer games. Not what I count as a good time spent on a Saturday but whatever floats his boat. Ben and I will be chillin' at home, pajamas on for a good chunk of the day. :-)
That's all I got for now. Everyone have a restful weekend!
